Sidetracks; The Backwash of it All.

Well, the exams are over, and I have been going out almost everyday with all my friends, ahahahaha! It's all very fun and everything, but I don't know why this feeling of unsettledness just bowls me over. Man, I am sure that some other people are just like myself, feeling that the exams are over, and yet the reality of it actually being gone is just too sudden. I just can't cross over from the transition between exams to holidays completely. I suppose some of you still feel that you need to get home as soon as possible to pick up a book or something and that having too much fun is a bad thing, or maybe it's just me, ahahahaha! Anyway, because of these feelings, I actually had a nightmare and it was so frickin' realistic, I woke up in a very bad way.

The nightmare included me having to receive my O level results, and just as I am about to collect them, a whole bunch of people I know just starts chanting stuff like, "You'd better have done well". It was so pressurizing that I actually yelled for them to back off, but they would just keep chanting it anyway. I couldn't stand it any further, and these manifestations of my fear just wouldn't go away so I had to bit myself awake, and I suppose it worked. Weird dream, huh?

Anyway on a different note, I was seeing alot of people getting into relationships for the past few days, and it's the hols and everything, so I am sure it's natural. I was just thinking that maybe people should get into relationships when they are serious about each other, because especially if they were good friends before, if the relationship didn't work out, that friendship they had would turn stale too right? I suppose this is the negative outlook of it all, I am sure the feeling of being in love is pretty sweet too, I wouldn't know exactly myself, but I guess I have decided to wait till I am actually matured enough to know what I want, because there's so many nice things that have yet to happen! And you never really know!

Sidetracks; End Of The O Levels! + Outing right after it!!! Muahahahaha!!!

It's over!!! It's finally over!!! The FRICKIN' GCE 'O' Level Examinations are finally OVER! Ahahahahah! Can't stop expressing my joy by exclaiming everything. Ok, there was a myriad of feelings when I stepped out of the examination hall at nine plus (we stayed behind to do our usual checking of answers) after the Biology paper, firstly it was a huge sense of relief, but it came with a tinge of anxiety, and followed by a sense of guilt. Heh, relieved that it's over, anxious about how well I have fared, and guilty because I was already thinking of having fun, and it seemed so wrong after we have been slogging away like cows for the past few weeks, close to a month.

Well, enough about the exams, heh, it's over and done with, now on to the outing! Immediately after the paper, I already had an outing to go to, and it was the gathering of the Secondary Four NCOs from the NPCC unit. I was frickin' excited to get into the holiday mood at last, so I got my clothes and headed with my friends to get the drinks for the BBQ which was being held at East Coast Park. Man, we bought 10 bottles of Pepsi and Coke(wasn't there an article about them being unhealthy?), but it sure was cheap!

We soon took the train to meet up with the rest, but soon realized we were at the wrong stop when Linsay messaged us that they were at a different station. So very reluctantly we got our feet to walk us along with the bottles to the correct spot where we were supposed to gather. When we got there, alot of our squadmates had already gathered and it was fun to see them all again after all the examinations.

We got to the BBQ pit after a long ride on the bus(and lots of walking). We were unable to start the fire because November and December has always been a "good" seasons for BBQs, don't you think? With all this raining going on, obviously a fire wouldn't start! So we had to take refuge at a shelter and while there, our rumbling stomachs could not wait any longer so we dug into the beehoon. Following that, we went to rent bikes and began to CYCLE! Man, did we cycle! We went from our pit all the way to the jetty where we took out first picture:

Heh, it's us with our bikes!

Anyway, after that, we continued cycling because we decided to find a nicer spot to take pictures from, away from all the ships behind us, and we soon saw this breakwater (ya, geography), and decided to take pictures whilst standing on it, heh. So these were the pictures:

First thought, "Ok...the sky is not exactly blue."

Jia Hui and me. (Ok, so we couldnt get rid of the ships after all, and we gave up anyway.)

Denise and Me, heh, I still think your natural hair colour is amazing! (Swimming in the morning really works??)

AHAHAHAHA! Smiling like idiots, but we couldn't help it really!

Linsay and Me!

Me and Chingwee, monkeying around as usual!

Well, that's basically most of what we took for the pictures there, the girls took their own pictures by themselves just as we the guys did, heh, but we forgot to do a group photo! What a waste! But it's ok because later on when we headed back to our pit to try and start the fire, it started drizzling again, so we went to the seaside where we took even more pictures, heh!
Here they are:

Candid moment!

Well, we got to take our group photo after all! But it wasnt everybody though!

Finally, after taking pictures with our individual phones, we got to starting the fire. The grass was really muddy and very awful to walk on, but we made it to the pits alright. The rain had stopped so we could finally start our fire, but the best part is, we didn't prepare the gripping device (I have totally no idea what it's called, and the one I heard sounded reaaaaaally wrong, so can somebody tell me if it's really called thongs?), and we didn't know how to start a fire! Finally after loads of fanning and a dozen firestarters, we got the charcoal to whiten up and finally start burning, but here's a picture of what it was before the flames got heated up:

Pathetic, I know ahahahah! But kudos to Linsay, Chingwee, Esadora and Denise for persevering to start the proper fire!

The fire finally started, but we were seriously lacking in utensils, we didn't have the brush meant to spread butter on the food, and so we used a fork, and the person putting the butter was Linsay so we ended up having very oily and salty sausages and crabmeat for the first few plates...

After we had eaten our fill, we went to take a bath at the toilets because we were feeling like we desperately needed one. So after the baths, we went to this funfair thingy near the toilets you guys might know about. We played the games there and boy, the one where you win prizes frickin' rips you off! I was totally keen on getting that Audio System which said 18 points, and since I had 6 rolls of the ball to land on a number from 1-8, I was thinking, "WOW, SO EASY!?!?" and then after I rolled more than 30 and wanted to raise my hand to point at it, the guy just promptly took a Tamiya Car Model Kit and placed it infront of me. I was about to go, "What the heck?? Dude, I want the Audio System." Then he explained himself without me asking. "You have to roll exactly the number to get whatever prize you want." My mouth just dropped.

Well, in the end, we won a bunch of prizes, with Linsay and Chingwee getting HUGE teddy bears and Linsay got another car model kit which I am supposed to help her fix up and give it to her another day, heh, well I've the time now, so what the heck! Well, here's the last picture we took before finally packing up at the funfair:

The one at ESCAPE more kick lah. (YOU JUST THOUGHT OF THAT DIDNT YOU!)

Well, this brings the outing to a close, as we went back to our pits, cleaned the area and left, heh, I am glad this outing came along when it did, totally got me into the mood of the holidays at last, and I still can't believe it's all over, heh, I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms of wanting to go home and study and not waste time, ahhahaahha! But SERIOUSLY, to all of you who just completed the exams, IT'S OVER, GO AND HAVE FUN!

Sidetracks; Dreamer Akira

Hasegawa Akira is a 13-year-old boy who has never done anything for himself. All he does in the day, as well as at night is to dream of things which will never happen unless he did something about it, but he just refuses to. One day, Akira stumbled upon an old book at the great oak tree in his grandmother's backyard. He opens the book and a small girl appears from it in a puff of smoke. Her name is Chiyoko, and she promises to change Akira's life if he just agrees to her unspoken conditions. Akira agrees but he is soon trapped in the battle of his life as he slowly learns of a second world, one similar to our own, but where his dreams could possibly come true...

Heh, this is a typical magical storyline which I just thought about doing for a small manga during the hols after the Os, just thought I should pen it down somewhere just in case I forget about it altogether. I am hoping that you guys can actually tell me about your dreams and just put down some examples on your tagboard, because I intend to use them as reference when I am building the second world in the story. You can even put down your nightmares, if you can bear to remember them, and I'll definitely use those, heh! But knowing that the tagboard is short, I am just going to need keypoints from your story, so for example just type like this if you can share your small dreams:
1. Place 2. Event 3. Feeling
1. Pool 2. Sunk to the bottom 3. Pressure

Basically, your event and feeling is the more important bit, but I'll need a place as well, so that's just it, heh, hope that you guys can help me along, it's going to be like a compilation of dreams and if you like I might add your character into the story itself, hehe
!

Sidetracks; Here I go!!!

Alright, it's finally here! The Os ARE HERE! I am not sure why, but I am actually excited about it! I'll bet most people will just say I am crazy, but this feeling of just going into the exams with everyone is pretty interesting too don't you think? Everyone is preparing for the same tests and examinations, and we will all be doing it at the same time! Well, I have been intensively revising for my chemistry these past few days, and I certainly hope I can score well for it. I am quite worried about my mathematics, or rather, additional mathematics, especially since I have just a few gaps to fill in, which I hope I can do so during the course of the exams. Well, it's finally here, the three weeks of examinations begins. I am quite pleased with the turnout of the examination timetable, except that mathematics is crammed together! >:( But it's alright, at least they didn't cram it with subjects which require memorizing (other than geography), but I am still glad it's mathematics, because it's a subject for practising, and practising is almost what we have been doing for the entire year. So time to gear up and go into battle! I am going to do my best, no backing down now! It's full steam ahead!

Sidetracks; It's the final straw that breaks the camel's back

For this post, I am directing it to somebody whom I am really pissed off at. No offence to the other people who might be reading this. Alright, seriously dude, what the hell is wrong with you? You are the most pathetic, backstabbing piece of good-for-nothing crap I've ever met, and I sometimes wonder if you even consider yourself as a friend to me. What the heck dude, it's seriously just you. Your attitude pisses me off. You know I frickin' treat you as a friend, but yet you take that friendship for granted. Your attitude totally changed over the past few years. You've officially become more irritating than ever, and to top it off, you're simply being an asshole. It's ok if you do it once in awhile, but what the heck, almost half the time? You think it's frickin' funny? Your jokes doesn't even cut off as passable, seriously. It's not about being sensitive, but you really should know how to consider people's feelings. You used to be much better when you couldn't even try to be irritating. Now you are a natural at it, and you think you are damn frickin' great doing it. You laugh at your own jokes, and that's just pathetic. I am even wasting my post here just to frickin' throw this in your face in hopes that you might read it, because I don't intend to say it to your face, because knowing your damn character, you'd get pissed even if I told you out of good intentions. Or maybe, you will decide to be an asshole and brush it off as usual, do it dude, do it, you can even do it now, if you are reading this, just brush it off. But I will probably pray I don't land up having a friend like you in the near future.

Sidetracks; Graduation Day

Time really flies. It seemed as though just yesterday we were simply entering the school for the first time, and getting used to the new environment. It seemed as though just yesterday, we were merely strangers meeting for the first time, some old friends and others which were new, we had all entered the school at the same time, and now we are leaving at the same time as well. A huge wave of nostalgia swept across the hall this morning as we all sat down through the graduation ceremony. We have all clearly changed over the course of four to five years in the school. The ceremony may have dragged on alittle, but it only meant more time for us to sit as an entire family before leaving to chart our own paths in the nearing future. Did you pay attention to the Guest Of Honour's speech? Heh, I am sure some of you didn't, but it's alright, here's what you missed out anyway. He said that we should "dream big", but that's two words short of a proper sentence. To complete it, I think we should all "dream big, and make realities".

I am sure many of my friends already have ambitions, I have my own goals set as well, but really, will our dreams waver over the uncertain future? Our principal Mdm Heng wasn't speaking through her hat when she said that the future might be bleak for all of us. In a competitive world, and the economy recession that she kept mentioning, it will be a tough life for us if we want to stick to pursuing dreams. After all, if you really want a good job in the future, it might mean sacrificing things which are precious to you, including your dreams. When that time comes, will we make the right decisions? Or perhaps, we might simply give up along the way? Not wanting to sound negative, but it is the truth of this world, and we need to overcome it. I am sure all of us can make it if we just did our best. Don't give up everybody, because it is the last lap of the journey. As the teachers have said before, they will be waiting for us at the finish line. This is our race, and let's give it our damn best to run. When we run, we will run together, and when we fall, we help each other, and let's cross the finish line together. To all my friends in Greenridge Secondary School, LET'S GO FOR IT!

Pictures!

I've graduated!!! Muahahahahaha!!!

Guys of 4E1!!!

Well, the cake was kinda nice to eat even though most of it were on our faces... *hates to admit it*

Yeah! Got a picture with Miss Kwek! (I'll definitely do my best for Humanities, no worries!)

Me and Mr Koh, my maths teacher! Thanks for teaching us, no matter what! (Sum of exterior angles is 360 degrees, I'LL REMEMBER!)

Sidetracks; It's coming, it's coming!!!

Hiya everyone, the O's are almost here! Man, in just two more weeks, it's going to be the first paper already! How time frickin' flies! Recently I have gained quite a bunch of confidence from my rather so-so results from my preliminary examinations, but I really need to stay consistent, so I will just keep working on the subjects I am counting on. Apparently, a certain subject,(which I personally didn't mind at first actually)has to stay out of my list, the subject's Biology, and the reason why it's out of my list of subjects I would rather spend time studying is because this subject has wayyyy too many issues to deal with. I need to strengthen my maths for the next few days because even though I have much confidence in them, I was sadly complacent for the preliminaries and I got my just desserts. So not wanting history to repeat itself, I am going to work on that too, muahahaha! Anyway, I am looking forward to getting $50 for my results during graduation day. Graduation day! DAAAAAAAMN, time realllly flies!!! Whew, alright, better head off to study!

Sidetracks; Just an outing, and class t-shirts vs staff uniforms

What happens when you go to a place and your shirt makes you stand out like nobody's business? Well, that's what I experienced when I went to COURTS at Jurong Point today, and man, it was WEIRD. Here's how it happened. The day started off as a normal school day, although we weren't really having lessons today especially since half the class were gone for practical exams whereas the rest (us) were simply left in the class to do our self-revision, which is great because surprisingly we could complete more without a teacher than having one around, maybe it's just the release of tension, when the teacher's not around. After school, I went back home to take a nap because I was meeting up with Linsay later in the day to catch up on some revision on A Maths before the test tomorrow. After the revision, I left Linsay to meet up with my dad to go to Jurong Point (and so the proper story begins) for dinner and to look around some stuff I would really like to buy, heh.

When we reached there, the place was packed. I am not sure, it could be myself, but everybody I saw at the place seemed to be pretty upset over something, because their faces were reaaaaallly black, or perhaps they just couldn't be bothered to look cheerful even though there was so much stuff to look at. My dad and I headed to the food court to have our dinner. It's been SO LONG since I had the Jurong Point's Fish and Chips (it was my heck of a favourite since a kid, but then I discovered doubleboiled food so my tastes changed). The taste of the fish hasn't changed one bit even though the wok has been passed to a different owner. I'd recommend it to you guys if you are interested in fish that has tons of filling and less flour so it's really worth the money, and the tartar sauce is superb yo.

After the sumptous meal, we headed to COURTS (climax approaches), and I was taking a look at all the latest gadgets and computerware. My eyes fell on the ACER Aspire One. It was a mini-notebook, which basically has all the basic functions of a computer but the pluses are that it's really light and you can practically carry it anywhere to process your work and surf the web. I was interested in it because of the way it looked as well, it was really stylish and all, so I secretly marked it down as one of the items which I'd consider getting. As I was looking around some more, all of a sudden people started coming up to me and asking me random questions. They'd stare at me and ask questions about the stuff I was infront of, which I couldn't answer of course. APPARENTLY, my class t-shirt, the one I was wearing resembles the workstaff uniform which the staff of COURTS wear!! Man, when I realized that it was too late, a ton of people just started irritating me by coming up to me and asking me tons of questions without even confirming that I really was just a passer-by just like them.

And best of all, some of them asked questions which were totally WEIRD man! Example: "Excuse me, this computer here... does it work like a computer?" LIKE WHAT THE HECK RIGHT?!?!?! Man, I guess I could have messed around alittle and reply, "Yeah it's actually a tv with a keyboard to type the channels you'd really enjoy watching" and get away with it but I didn't of course. In the end it was just becoming a pain just being in the store trying to browse through the things when people keep tapping my shoulders for queries on stuff which I had no clue about. So a warning to my fellow classmates: "DO NOT WEAR OUR CLASS T-SHIRT TO COURTS, OR ANY PLACE WITH BLACK POLO-TEES AS A UNIFORM WEAR, PERIOD!"

Took some pictures:

The ACER Aspire One! I won't go into details with the specs, but it's hella good in my opinion!

Jurong Point has certainly changed alot since I last visited, it even has this extension of the place which is trying to look like it has a japanese feel to it.

Story #3; Chapter One - SIS

A cool breeze blows through the skies of evening hue. With a sudden squall every now and then, the doors of an old factory remains rigid, and it stands firm upon its feet, protecting whatever resides within it. Inside the high steel walls of the factory, the small clanging of metal can be heard from a distance as one approaches the center of the building. Within the darkness, small lights danced in the middle, with a shadow cast upon the walls of the place, giving it a mysterious feel. The person responsible for the lights and the metallic noises turns out to be a frail-looking old man. An old man with a young heart, he often claims. His name is Doctor Roger L.K. Mckenskie, famous throughout the world for his works on robotic sciences. Now why on earth would a doctor as famous as this be doing in an old run-down factory such as this, one might ponder. As the doctor removes a cloth from his latest invention the answer is revealed. As the fabric slid off the invention, it revealed a little girl. The doctor stepped back to admire his work. She was indeed a work of wonders. She may have been a metallic body once, but right now, as one sets eyes upon her, one would think she is definitely human. With her bright blonde hair, complete with curls, eyes of cobalt blue (probably the remnants of some impure substances), and silk-smooth skin, nobody would ever think she is actually, a robot.

Her name was intially supposed to be SIS, or Symbian Intelligence System. Now the doctor fondly calls her by the name Amelia. Amelia the robot is not the simple cyborgs you might have seen on televisions or movies. A robot with feelings, genuine human feelings, but this is just a presumption. The doctor still hopes that she might work, because if she does not, his past fifteen years spent cooped up in a rotten old factory and being ridiculed would have been in vain. He goes to the switches and begins to flip them. Slowly, a whirring sound began to reveberate throughout the room. The doctor looks on at Amelia's lifeless body hopefully. Nothing stirs. He continues to keep his hopes up as he tries the switches again. And again, and again. After a dozen tries, the doctor pulled at his hair in frustration. "It failed! I should have known! It wasn't enough! It wasn't enough!" he cries out in utter despair. Then he flew into a rage, tools began to crash onto the floor, the lights shook, and the building began to look like a warzone. The doctor sank to the ground, sobbing miserably at his failed experiment. "All for nothing... All for nothing..." he began to chant. He closes his eyes to rest. He had spent the past sixteen days and nights finishing the final touches, and now with all his hopes dashed, he just wants to close his eyes and simply sleep it all away.

A small tinkle is heard. An echo following closely behind it. The doctor's eyes remains closed. Another small tinkle, louder alittle this time. The doctor opens his eyes slowly. From the corner of his eye, he sees movement near his desk. At his desk, with her hands desperately grabbing the corners of it, Amelia was trying to walk. The doctor was stunned. It worked? He tries to regain his composure. IT WORKED! He ran over to where Amelia was, laughing heartily. He picks her up and puts her on his shoulders. Amelia, uncomfortable at being carried with such force, began to knock his head with her hands. The doctor simply shook away the knocks, turning around to see his invention. With tears of relief in his eyes, all he could mouth out was, "Amelia... Thank you."

Sidetracks; Have you found what you were looking for?

Hiya everyone, it's been awhile hasn't it? Recently has been a real emotional roller-coaster, especially with the multitude of tests and tons of other stuff to prepare for just as the final examinations are coming up, but it's to be expected I suppose. But I am not sure if it's because of this sudden urge for my teachers to throw at us a bunch of tests, but it seems that the conditioning of our mental state seems to be working. I look around and I don't see a single one of my classmates complaining about tests as they did before, I am not complaining much myself, although we still lament sometimes at the amount of crap we have to deal with, but heck, it's become a part of our lifestyle now.

On a different note, I am starting to get these weird feelings that life isn't interesting enough. Is it part of this teenage crap that we all go through? Somehow, it just feels as though life's become really mundane, maybe it's the way we have to go through all the studying right now. I really wonder how people get by just doing the same things they do every single day, I am not sure whether to admire their abillity to adapt, or just laugh at them for not wanting to make a change.
My sister tells me that it'd be different once I graduate from secondary school, and I'll meet people from different kinds of backgrounds, I really wonder if I would. It's almost the same now isn't it? We all do come from different backgrounds, but it's like everyone is the same when it comes down to it in the end.

Man, these feelings are driving me nuts, why the heck am I wondering about such stuff when I should be just focusing on my studies huh? Don't worry though Mum and Dad, I am still keeping up the grades, but I guess I tend to ponder over such nonsense once in awhile, leave me at it heh, it's the way I am. I suppose these feelings just accumulate over time every now and then, because I really have no one I can talk to about some of the stuff that goes on in my head sometimes. Have you found what you were looking for? I am still searching for my cause, and I sure hope to find it soon.

Sidetracks; Monday Blues

Yeah all, it's back to school again and this is probably just the last post before the exam fever kicks back in. Man, it's almost as if after one weekend, all the homework decided to gang up and throw themselves at us in one day! But of course, it's only because we hadn't been finishing what we should have, so there really isn't anyone else to blame but ourselves muahahaha! Well, I believe if I spread out my time evenly I should be able to get rid of some of them by the end of today, heh! To talk about today, it'd be a drag because nothing much happened at all. It seemed like an ordinary school day, with everyone feeling tired and sleepy because the weekend is still fresh in their minds. Lessons carried on as usual regardless of how lethargic we may look to our teachers, they sure can stay perky, those teachers, heh. Just thought I'd congratulate Xianzhe for scoring well for our recent E math test, heh, you sure improved alot dude, but hey, I didn't do that badly either, so let's continue to rival each other dude, heh (and if possible, next time go and compete with the better ones, you know who I mean heh)! Alright, that's all for this post before I get to my work. Study hard everyone, and it's the English O' Level Oral Examinations next week, heh, time to stock up on honey and water eh?

Sidetracks; The Musical! Little Shop Of Horrors (No doubt it was horrific, heh)!

Hi all, I am back as promised to blog about another huge event! This musical that I attended yesterday at Republic Polytechnic was done by my school and it's probably the last event that my class and I will take part in for the school. It was a night worth going in my opinion, because I think we had loads of fun (basically making fun of the show, but heh heh, it was good lah). Alright, so here I go with the events that took place yesterday.

Basically, there was the usual lessons in the morning, for Additional Mathematics and right after that lesson, Mr Koh gave us an Elementay Mathematics test! I am not sure if I did well in the paper, but it seemed rather easy as compared to the standard that he's been setting for us the past few weeks. Anyway, moving on, after the lessons, I headed down to the Lot One shopping centre with my friends to take a look at some last-minute shopping. It was a rather formal event and we all had to dress up nicely, so I decided to make the extra effort this time, by deciding to get a tie! In the end, the ties we found were all really expensive, but I managed to get a relatively cheaper tie and we left for our own homes after that. I met up with Sharmin to give her the ticket to the musical, and just a reminder to her, I NEED THE FIFTEEN DOLLARS ASAP MAN, I GOT THE TICKET FROM A TEACHER THIS TIME! Anyway, after reaching home, I really had nothing else to do, so i picked up the guitar and I started to lose track of time.

Before I knew it, it was an hour before I was supposed to meet Eileen, Zalikha and Jarah at Choa Chu Kang MRT station to go to the musical. I hurriedly got changed and then went to meet up with them. Coincidentally, I met Eileen and Jarah on the train first, so we were heading together on the train to Choa Chu Kang, when it dawned on me that, I FORGOT TO BRING MY TICKET! Man, I probably had such a horrified look on my face the people around me must have thought I accidentally knocked my hand against the train door. I quickly told Eileen and Jarah that I'd meet them at Causeway Point instead, which was the place we were going to eat at and I took the bus which I felt would be faster for me back home. Very quickly, I got home and got my ticket, and left for the bus-stop, because luckily for me, there's a bus right below my house which brings me to Causeway directly.

Soon I reached the place and Eileen and Jarah were already with Zalikha and they were eating, and they were nearly done! I didn't eat in the end because I really didn't feel like eating after rushing all the way there, I was more thirsty in fact. So we walked around alittle and then finally decided to make our way there, because Faris who was supposed to meet us told me he'd be reaching later. So we went ahead first, and Zalikha actually brought a MAP! Good thing she did though, and based on my "great sense of direction" we made it there (left out certain details, but it won't affect my story :P). After reaching there, we also met up with more of our friends who had just reached. So we started heading to the cultural centre's theatre where we continued to marvel at how huge and how rich Republic Polytechnic was.

We got there really early and soon alot of people were arriving in and it got really noisy with so many people looking and staring in awe at how stylish and different their friends looked. And before long we were inside the theatre itself. It was pretty alright for a theatre heh, and the secondary four express classes sat together which was pretty fun especially since we could talk to each other more easily (heh heh, not very good audience behavior, I know). The musical started and it was pretty cool. The props were really well-made in a way, especially since it was a great effort put in by our own schoolmates, kudos to them man. During the intermission, Adi and I chatted about the musical and some other crappy stuff as we normally do. We said that the intermission was meant for those smokers to start chain-smoking in the toilets if they needed. Then Adi crapped about how they can just take all the cigarettes in one pack and stuff them in their mouths to make it simpler, frickin' funny thought. Then I said that when they exhale the smoke, they exhale ten times more, people is one thin line, theirs is like a fog had just entered the toilet. Well, the musical soon started again and the last bit was quite interesting. The female lead had actually been half-eaten by the man-eating plant, but yet she was able to come out and sing with the male lead before jumping back in to die, like what the hell's up with that?! Anyway, The musical soon ended and it was a pretty fun show, human-eating plants, corny love scenes and dramatic tragedy put into one, if I was asked to summarize the show.

After the musical, everybody started heading home, I went with Linsay, Zhongping and Liping, Martin (a new friend), to Causeway to grab something to eat. It was pretty late by then, nearing eleven, and surprisingly there were still loads of people there, mostly our own schoolmates. Very soon we were heading home as well, and I couldn't wait to reach home either. Well, I took loads of pictures (DUH! How can waste sucha good opportunity to have friends dress up for a good photo?), so here are some of them heh, take a look!

Sidetracks; Chinatown and Racial Harmony Day! (Part 2)

Alright! Now to talk about the main event! Racial Harmony Day was yesterday and so all of us donned our costumes and had loads of fun taking pictures! The night before I wasn't really able to fall asleep, as I was quite excited about seeing all my friends in their traditional costumes. We have never done this sort of thing before, that is, to wear our traditional costumes so faithfully, and yet we are doing it this year, and that in itself is pretty special.

So, because I was too excited to sleep, and ended up sleeping rather late, I woke up late as a result as well, and it wasn't till Fatin called me that I managed to wake up, heh. Since I was the chairperson, I really needed to open the classroom door so that they could get changed and leave their things inside the class. So I got changed hurriedly and went to school. Turns out, most of my classmates weren't really at school yet because the LRT train broke down, (yes! hurray for me muahahaha!) and so I wasn't really late in opening up the class door. Soon, all of us were ready and we headed to the Indoor Sports Hall for morning assembly. We saw alot of people wearing the ethnic costumes and we got worried that we might not get first after all. Finally, after a check, our class was the only class that had all its students in traditional costumes, woohoo! Hopefully we'd get the prize because of this, but the votes still need to count before the decision can be made, and there were classes competing since they had passed the criteria of 90%.

After assembly, those with their costumes were told to stay back and take pictures, and so my entire class remained behind with alot of other students and we took many pictures. It was really fun and the chinese guys including myself really got into it, and whichever picture we took, we couldn't help but to pose with the chinese kung-fu sort of pose, heh! I really got into the mood too with the posing, muahaha! But sian ah, somehow the pictures I took, some of them made my head look really big, but I realized that my face becomes chubby in the morning and then slims down by the afternoon, it's really weird and I can't explain why it's like that, freaky! Anyway! We began taking pictures even after the photo-taking session was over and lessons resumed. Our first period teachers really had difficulty trying to make us get focused in our work.

I had difficulty concentrating not because I didn't want to, but because the chinese sleeves were really getting in the way, and I hadn't brought any school uniform to change back into, so throughout the day I had to keep pulling back the sleeves just so that it didn't obstruct me. But throughout it all, it was a really fun experience, and all of my friends looked fantastic in their traditional costumes. Now it's just trying to get my hands on all the pictures, which up till now, graaaaaaaaaaaaa, are still missing! >:(

Pictures (At present!):

We're still waiting for our turn to take pictures... HURRY UP LAH!

Hoohah! One more picture for myself, heh! Sorry about the facial expression, I really wasn't prepared!

Alright that's all for this post, I guess there'd only be one more event which is my school's musical which is coming up which I might blog about, but other than that, it's back to studying for the O's! Let's go for it!

Sidetracks; Chinatown and Racial Harmony Day! (Part 1)

Woohoo! I am online to blog again, it's been a week plus since I last touched my keyboard, and how I missed it! Alright, I am going to take up on Nadzirah's comment and start to paragraph my posts, heh.

Ok, so first up is my trip to Chinatown with my classmates. Basically, since Racial Harmony Day was coming, my friends and I went there to get our chinese costumes. Our form teacher Mrs Tan actually managed to convince the entire class to wear and I think she was right, that it was worth it. I am sure she's right about us cherishing these memories that we make as well, with this being one of our very last few events with the school. Heh, and even if she didn't manage to convince us, my class is a greedy lot, and we all want the prize, muahaha. The criteria was for the 90% of the class to wear their traditional costumes and then try to get teachers to wear their traditional costumes as well and vote for us. So Mrs Tan and most of my classmates went about getting teachers to vote for us, which I think did vote for us in the end, heh! Ok wait, back to the main point first. So basically the group of us who went were Huan Min, Ching Wee, Zhengyu, Xian Zhe and myself. We were also there to buy for the shirts for Eric and Kian Peng (for Kian Peng, I decided to be reaaaallly irritating, heh heh, you'll see what happened later).

So when we reached there, the first thing we saw as we walked out of the station was the marketplace itself already. There were many people walking around and most of them were simply viewing the things that were being sold. However, we were there for a purpose, and so we set to finding shops that sold the chinese costumes. In less than ten minutes we came to our first shop. Already we saw many chinese costumes that caught our liking (at least for some of us), but the pricing wasn't exactly wallet-friendly so we decided to scout around some more. We went to the next shop which also sold rather nice chinese clothings, and there was even one mannequin outside the shop with a really nice long chinese coat the one those chinese martial artists wore in the past. I couldn't take my eyes off that coat for awhile... Until I saw the price tag hanging from its sleeves.

So going inside the shop, we saw more chinese costumes. A family I think, owned the shop, and there was the father, a rather plump man with spectacles, the wife, and perhaps the son, who looked like the father, not just the features but even in terms of age. We started feeling the clothes' materials when the father suddenly said, "Hey, no need to look over there lah, those over there too expensive, you want to try make sure you have enough first." Damn, I was so pissed off and so were the others. Like what Ching Wee said, Gou Yan Kan Ren Di, that man had no right to think of us as being unable to afford what his shop owns, and that's definitely not the way you speak to customers. So after hearing his irritating comment, we left in a huff to another shop. Turns out, there were actually many shops with different varieties, it was almost like half the streets were full of these clothes.

Finally, after almost two hours of walking about and scouting, I was the first to come to a decision to buy a suit from the perhaps, 7th shop we were visiting. After I bought my costume, all of us went back to the first few shops to take a look once more. We headed back to the shop with the haughty father, but Xian Zhe and Zhengyu decided to go to another shop which had caught their eye to buy their costumes. I stayed behind with Ching Wee and Huan Min as they looked at the clothes once more. Ching Wee decided to try out a few and finally wanted to buy one, however the costume she wanted, had a button which was about to fall off, but she said it was alright, and that she could sew it back herself. After this, she asked the father if he could sell it cheaper since the quality wasn't as good, and all that jerk could say was, "Hey, it's a fixed price, no point trying to bargain one, I know you guys are just students... *says this in a very condescending manner*" I was so pissed I wanted to leave the shop already, but all Ching Wee and I did was roll our eyes and stare at each other while the man busied himself in packing up the clothes, so Ching Wee bought it in the end, dammit lah!!!

Xian Zhe and Zhengyu had finished buying their clothes as well when we met them, and I saw a shirt that would fit Kian Peng (yeah RIGHT, MUAHAHAHA), and Zhengyu had already bought for Eric. Huan Min and Ching Wee saw clothes that'd fit the girls in our class so they bought for them as well. Before long, we were on the train home again, and one last incident (which Huan Min has already blogged about) which happened was that this little girl tripped and kinda er... basically I wasn't standing at a very good position and it was crowded so it was really sensitive.

Yeap, so that's the Chinatown trip, whew, alright since just a trip had taken so much of this post, I am going to post about the Racial Harmony Day on the next one as part II, be sure to read it!

Just some pictures:

Sidetracks; The experience these past few weeks! (Part 3 of 3)

Yeah all! I saved my favourite for last, so here it is! Today was the Passing Out Parade for the graduating cadets from my CCA, the National Police Cadet Corp! We were finally going to graduate from the Corp, and all of us were really happy about it. It was really sad to actually leave the CCA, but I am sure we all walked away with great memories and fun times which would always be with us always. The parade started and because I was taking the graduating squad for the last time, I managed to get front row seats to the passing of the ceremonial sword from the Head of Departments, and it was pretty good, if not for us having to stand really straight and remaining still for the entire time. So after almost fifteen minutes of trying to make our entire body behave, we went inside the school canteen where we were to receive our awards, ranks and souvenirs (for the graduating cadets muahaha!). At the canteen, the emcees took the lead, and they began meting out the names and one by one we went up to collect our ranks. I was happy to see that all my fellow friends managed to get at least a rank of a sergeant, so guys, you left with something to be proud of! My officer-in-charge, Mr Ho, said that the names would be read out in alphabetical order and my heart sank, being Vashon, it meant V and that's like probably the last bunch of people in the awardees. I tried to recall if anyone came after me in terms of our names, and there were nobody else! So being last I cracked a joke with Jia Hui who was sitting beside me with his new sergeant rank that he can wake me up after all the names are called, heh! So the names were called out, and then... and then... my name was not called out! At first, I went, "eh...?" and then it became, "EHHH?!!?!? WHERE'S MY RANK!?!?" So I kept shifting about in my seat wondering if I should interrupt the ceremony to tell them that, but I decided against it, and began clapping for everyone else, from the secondary twos to secondary threes who went up to get their prize. Finally Zhengyu and Linsay went up to get the Best Unit Cadet awards, I clapped and cheered for them, and then all of a sudden, my name was called out! Woohoo! Denise and I were laughing and we both got up to get our ranks, Station Inspector leh, no joke! I am very happy with the rank, and I could see that Denise was laughing inwardly as well as the rank was placed on her shoulders by the superiors. So after all that, we went to eat all the pretty good food, which was kway teow, a chicken drumstick, an otah, a piece of chocolate cream cake, and a fried prawn roll (good enough lah, no need to eat too much). After that, it was picture-taking time! And we had alot of fun taking pictures of ourselves in our uniforms for the last time for most of us. After it all, we really had a great time, and I am very proud of my CCA and all my friends, so guys, WE DID IT!!!

These are the pictures! (More to come):

Station Inspectors! (Me and Denise)

The Best Unit Cadet and The Station Inspector! (Me and Zhengyu)

If you think this is informal, check out the next pic!

That's all for now! I know I said we took alot, but it's all spread out in different people's cameras, so I will need to collect them all! (Sounds like some advertisement for a card game)
