Sidetracks; The experience these past few weeks! (Part 3 of 3)

Yeah all! I saved my favourite for last, so here it is! Today was the Passing Out Parade for the graduating cadets from my CCA, the National Police Cadet Corp! We were finally going to graduate from the Corp, and all of us were really happy about it. It was really sad to actually leave the CCA, but I am sure we all walked away with great memories and fun times which would always be with us always. The parade started and because I was taking the graduating squad for the last time, I managed to get front row seats to the passing of the ceremonial sword from the Head of Departments, and it was pretty good, if not for us having to stand really straight and remaining still for the entire time. So after almost fifteen minutes of trying to make our entire body behave, we went inside the school canteen where we were to receive our awards, ranks and souvenirs (for the graduating cadets muahaha!). At the canteen, the emcees took the lead, and they began meting out the names and one by one we went up to collect our ranks. I was happy to see that all my fellow friends managed to get at least a rank of a sergeant, so guys, you left with something to be proud of! My officer-in-charge, Mr Ho, said that the names would be read out in alphabetical order and my heart sank, being Vashon, it meant V and that's like probably the last bunch of people in the awardees. I tried to recall if anyone came after me in terms of our names, and there were nobody else! So being last I cracked a joke with Jia Hui who was sitting beside me with his new sergeant rank that he can wake me up after all the names are called, heh! So the names were called out, and then... and then... my name was not called out! At first, I went, "eh...?" and then it became, "EHHH?!!?!? WHERE'S MY RANK!?!?" So I kept shifting about in my seat wondering if I should interrupt the ceremony to tell them that, but I decided against it, and began clapping for everyone else, from the secondary twos to secondary threes who went up to get their prize. Finally Zhengyu and Linsay went up to get the Best Unit Cadet awards, I clapped and cheered for them, and then all of a sudden, my name was called out! Woohoo! Denise and I were laughing and we both got up to get our ranks, Station Inspector leh, no joke! I am very happy with the rank, and I could see that Denise was laughing inwardly as well as the rank was placed on her shoulders by the superiors. So after all that, we went to eat all the pretty good food, which was kway teow, a chicken drumstick, an otah, a piece of chocolate cream cake, and a fried prawn roll (good enough lah, no need to eat too much). After that, it was picture-taking time! And we had alot of fun taking pictures of ourselves in our uniforms for the last time for most of us. After it all, we really had a great time, and I am very proud of my CCA and all my friends, so guys, WE DID IT!!!
