A cool breeze blows through the skies of evening hue. With a sudden squall every now and then, the doors of an old factory remains rigid, and it stands firm upon its feet, protecting whatever resides within it. Inside the high steel walls of the factory, the small clanging of metal can be heard from a distance as one approaches the center of the building. Within the darkness, small lights danced in the middle, with a shadow cast upon the walls of the place, giving it a mysterious feel. The person responsible for the lights and the metallic noises turns out to be a frail-looking old man. An old man with a young heart, he often claims. His name is Doctor Roger L.K. Mckenskie, famous throughout the world for his works on robotic sciences. Now why on earth would a doctor as famous as this be doing in an old run-down factory such as this, one might ponder. As the doctor removes a cloth from his latest invention the answer is revealed. As the fabric slid off the invention, it revealed a little girl. The doctor stepped back to admire his work. She was indeed a work of wonders. She may have been a metallic body once, but right now, as one sets eyes upon her, one would think she is definitely human. With her bright blonde hair, complete with curls, eyes of cobalt blue (probably the remnants of some impure substances), and silk-smooth skin, nobody would ever think she is actually, a robot.
Her name was intially supposed to be SIS, or Symbian Intelligence System. Now the doctor fondly calls her by the name Amelia. Amelia the robot is not the simple cyborgs you might have seen on televisions or movies. A robot with feelings, genuine human feelings, but this is just a presumption. The doctor still hopes that she might work, because if she does not, his past fifteen years spent cooped up in a rotten old factory and being ridiculed would have been in vain. He goes to the switches and begins to flip them. Slowly, a whirring sound began to reveberate throughout the room. The doctor looks on at Amelia's lifeless body hopefully. Nothing stirs. He continues to keep his hopes up as he tries the switches again. And again, and again. After a dozen tries, the doctor pulled at his hair in frustration. "It failed! I should have known! It wasn't enough! It wasn't enough!" he cries out in utter despair. Then he flew into a rage, tools began to crash onto the floor, the lights shook, and the building began to look like a warzone. The doctor sank to the ground, sobbing miserably at his failed experiment. "All for nothing... All for nothing..." he began to chant. He closes his eyes to rest. He had spent the past sixteen days and nights finishing the final touches, and now with all his hopes dashed, he just wants to close his eyes and simply sleep it all away.
A small tinkle is heard. An echo following closely behind it. The doctor's eyes remains closed. Another small tinkle, louder alittle this time. The doctor opens his eyes slowly. From the corner of his eye, he sees movement near his desk. At his desk, with her hands desperately grabbing the corners of it, Amelia was trying to walk. The doctor was stunned. It worked? He tries to regain his composure. IT WORKED! He ran over to where Amelia was, laughing heartily. He picks her up and puts her on his shoulders. Amelia, uncomfortable at being carried with such force, began to knock his head with her hands. The doctor simply shook away the knocks, turning around to see his invention. With tears of relief in his eyes, all he could mouth out was, "Amelia... Thank you."
That's my cupcake!
